Because I am travel writer I constantly get questioned about the best things to do in Australia.. Here’s some my list.

1.The biggest departure point for those looking to snorkel and dive the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns is a favoured point to catch a chartered tour to the reef. There are numerous companies that offer a wide variety of different kinds of charters to the Great Barrier Reef. You may choose between day-tours or overnight trips, which vary greatly in cost.If you aren’t yet qualified to scuba dive, but can’t imagine a cruise to the Great Barrier Reef without doing so, just about all cruises will give you the opportunity to do a resort dive, with no experience needed. Virtually all operators have an ecotourism rating, which means you don’t have to worry about damaging the great barrier reef while you are snorkelling.

2.Happening in February, the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras has grown to be the biggest of its type in the world. A million people line Darlinghurst’s streets to see floats so colourful, and outfits so outlandish that Brazilian carnevalists would blush with embarrasment. Streets are closed off, bars en-route are at capacity, and the gay and lesbian community party for days. It’s their Christmas. Straight people are allowed along for the celebratory ride but this is a celebration of gay culture. The event began in 1979 with a parade of 1000 people marking World Gay Solidarity Day. These were much less open times and there were fights with authority that led to arrests for ‘lewd behaviour’. These days gay and lesbian police march openly – and even in uniform – in the parade. The whole thing involves thousands of performers. Religious types are always resentful of the wanton sexuality but are generally seen as part of the lunatic fringe during this miasma of colour. It’s an eyeful of a party and not to be missed.

3.An hour or so south of Cairns, Mission Beach is the perfect departure point for the Great Barrier Reef. The beach is a 9 mile long, pristine sandy beach, with breathtaking views of Bedarra and a handful of other islands just off the beach. There is a small village here, where you can learn more about activities like snorkelling or scuba diving, though some would be perfectly happy soaking up the rays and taking in the beautiful surrounding scenery. You can stay overnight in Mission Beach, though most will be on a day trip from Cairns. If you did not hire a car or camper van for your holiday, there is a company that offers a coach transfer service called Mission Beach Dunk Island Coaches, which takes the scenic road between Port Douglas, Cairns, and the Cassowary coast.

4.Created in 1850 to keep cricketers fit in winter, Australian Rules is a hybrid of rugby, soccer and a charming Australian childhood activity called get the koala that involves gang-tackling the unlucky soul who has the ball. The game is played on an oval-shaped, cricket-sized oval between two teams of 18 men each. The idea is to kick the ball through two upright posts and earn six points. Miss and you get one point, or miss so badly the ball misses the smaller of the adjacent posts and you get zero. A free kick is gained when a ‘mark’ is taken, awarded when a kick is caught before it touches the ground. This can be the most amazing of sights, players ‘ride’ the backs of their opponents (and team mates) so high they often injure themselves when they fall back to earth. The players pass the ball by hitting the ball with their bunched fist and can’t run without bouncing it every 10 metres. That’s about it for rules. The rules are so complicated that it’s little wonder no-one on Earth bar Australians know what they are. Crowds sometimes reach 100,000, most of whom are as knowledgeable about the history of their team as a history lecturer from Cambridge knows about ancient Greece. That’s why, an Aussie Rules game is definately a must see on a trip Downunder.

5.The Big Day Out is a summer music festival and Australia’s biggest travelling party. Like a mobile Glastonbury the show has featured in recent years bands like Coldplay, and PJ Harvey. In the past top acts such as Nirvana and Bjork have made the trip to Australia. From what was once as an one day event in Sydney on Australia day now travels all around the country and even to New Zealand. It’s a not to be missed activity for anyone under 30, from Australia or overseas.

6.The thing to do at Ayers Rock – climb to the top of it. Located near Alice Springs aka the Outback, Uluru, one of the World’s Heritage Sites, is a large sandstone formation standing at 1,142 feet in height and turns varying shades of bright red during the day, particularly so during sunrise and sunset. More importantly, Uluru is a dreaming site to the Indigenous people who also believe that a curse is placed on anyone who takes rocks away with them. In the tourist information center, there is a display of rocks that have been shipped back from tourists hoping to get rid of the curse. There is a long chain built along the side of the rock that acts as a handrail for the climb up and the views from atop this magnificent site are simply unforgetable. The local Aboriginal people do not like travellers climbing Uluru, however this decision is your choice.

7.The oldest continuous area of rainforest on the Australian mainland, the Daintree National Park is a protected area of lush rainforest 120km’s north of Cairns Australia. The National Park, which encompasses around 1200 square kilometers, is not only World Heritage listed, but is also home to a large variety of flora and fauna-including marsupials, frogs, birds and the endangered dropbear. Generally thought to be the oldest rainforest in the world, the Daintree forest is over 145 million years old and has more than 435 different species of bird, including 25 species found only there. There are some day bushwalks that allow tourists to explore parts of this giant rainforest on their own, in addition to guided tours that can help teach you about the local history on your way.

8.Whitehaven Beach is set amongst the Whitsunday Islands along the Central Queensland coast and can be reached by sea or air. I have been to many beaches in my journeys and this is undoubtedly the most perfect, most beautiful stretch of sand I have ever visited. If you can think of the softest, whitest, cleanest sand, the clearest, lightest, bluest water that’s what it looks like. Shute Harbour is most often used as the base point to get to the Whitsunday Islands and Whitehaven Beach. The usual way to see it is a sailboat liveaboard cruise. There are numerous sailing companies in Airlie Beach that take you there. There are also day trips to just Whitehave or including a visit to another island such as South Molle Island.

9.See the amazing view of the Sydney Opera House with the fantastic Harbour bridge in the foreground .The Sydney Opera House is widely considered as the symbol of Australia, as well as being one of the most famous performing arts centres anywhere. The main attraction is off course the unique design. On major celebrations in Sydney history, like New Years Eve and the Sydney Olympic games, the bridge has always been the focal point. For the adventurous, it’s also possible to climb the bridge.

10.Coober Pedy is most famous for the unusual living quarters of a significant portion of it’s local inhabitants who live in converted mines. This practice came about when local resident sought escape from the oppressive heat before the days of modern air conditioning. Also famous as the the Black Opal Capital of the World, Coober Pedy was first established as an opal mine in 1915. Today tourists can visit the old opal mines, visit underground churches, and stay underground in a hotel. The local golf course, with sand instead of grass, is played at night with flourescent golf balls. The area served as the backdrop for the post-nuclear apocalypse film titled Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome starring Australian son Mel Gibson. Find a Coober Pedy hotel and enjoy this must see piece of Austraia.

Malls certainly have all the retail stores that they could ever need but the thing is Nike soccer shoes sold here can be quite expensive since businesses like these usually have to compensate a lot for the lease their establishment has to pay to the mall for rent. Nike soccer shoes can certainly be expensive especially those sold in malls. Buyers should know that you can still purchase the same shoes at a cheaper price in a different venue.

Puma soccer shoes are also one of those reliable shoes that you can use for your everyday soccer needs. Despite its lack in reputation Puma soccer shoes have indeed proven their worth when they match perfectly against other players on the soccer field. Puma has prioritized the concept of strength and agility and while Puma sports shoes might be hard to find it is indeed worth it if you are looking for a bargain in sportswear. The fun thing is it can be bought at a cheaper place in contrast to retail.

A soccer shoe can indeed help any recreational or professional player of soccer. What most recreational players do not know is that a soccer shoe is not essential to the complete enjoyment of the game. No kid in their right mind or an adult for the matter would stop from playing the game just because he doesn’t have a shoe. It should be noted that a lot of established professional soccer players never had any sort of shoe just for playing soccer.

Soccer enthusiasts should start simple with basic and casual shoes. This helps develop a player’s movement and handling. What better way to become a better player by employing a handicap where all you have to rely on is your body. Below is a list of potential shoes you can make use of.- Girbaud- Sanok- Lacoste

If you are considering buying some soccer equipment and soccer gear for yourself then you might want to consider online distributors. The articles they have for sale there are quite comprehensive and affordable. They even sell a messi jersey which is quite popular among the youth.

Most seasoned sports men might be new to the concept of Nike soccer shoes. Simply because when one thinks of Nike it is usually associated with basketball and basketball oriented themes. What people should know is that they have indeed developed a Nike soccer shoes series. In fact after the skepticism of the 1st quarter when these shoes came out many critics have praised the shoe for its unique versatility and sleek feel. The shoe was designed to fit comfortably on the user making it seem that the shoe was not even there. This trait allows the user to play the game as if he were barefoot and provided with all the necessary support he could ever need in playing the game.

Puma soccer shoes are also worth taking a look at due to its growing popularity. It is true that Puma has come to produce a lot of casual shoes it is by no means that they are incapable of making sport shoes. Today, Puma has created a very user friendly shoe that is suitable for soccer. It premises on superior foot protection while maintaining a steady light weight ideal for agile movements on the field. Designers further claim that such a shoe is designed to provide comfort and preserve stamina.

It cannot be denied that what keeps the game of soccer more entertaining and awe inspiring is the fact that the soccer shoe offers an avenue for enhanced performance. A soccer shoe can indeed be expensive but that does not mean you cannot make use of any shoe to act as a soccer shoe in order to be able to handle the field. Do not let this hinder you since as much as shoes are concerned, the day old sneaker will be more than formidable on the harsh conditions of the soccer field.

In order to have your current shoe perform like a soccer shoe you should take note of the following shoe traits.- Sloped and curved sides- Enough traction to reduce slippage on mud- Shoe lace system- Shoe flexibility is akin to rubber shoes
